It’s dangerous to exercise

If someone has been telling you it’s dangerous to exercise and has prevented you from going on your regular workout, you need to tell them that it’s just a myth. In fact, doctors advise pregnant women to exercise or go on walks as it can help them deal with back pain or poor sleep.

“Not only is this myth not true, but we’d go so far as to say it’s the opposite: pregnant women should attempt regular exercise as long as they feel comfortable and have the go-ahead from their doctor. Regular workouts while pregnant can even help with back pain or poor sleep, and, once you’re healed from delivery, it’s ok to start exercising again as a new mum.”

You Shouldn’t Eat Seafood

Many elderly people warn pregnant women to keep away from seafood. However, doctors advise pregnant women to eat seafood to the advantage of omega-3 fatty acids, which is beneficial for the foetus. However, women should keep away from seafood having high levels of mercury, like tuna and swordfish.

Eating Twice As Much During Pregnancy

Many women think it’s a good idea to eat twice as much during pregnancy, due to the growing foetus. However, it must be noted that in the case of obese women, they should not be putting on extra weight. The risk of developing gestational diabetes and high blood pressure is high, in the case of obese women.

In fact, doctors suggest eating twice as healthy when you’re pregnant to support the development of the foetus.

Nadine Wilson Harris said in a recent article related to obesity and neonatal deaths:

“According to obstetrician-gynaecologist Dr Nastassia Tate, obese pregnant women should not try to gain any weight at all.

“Pregnancy is not a time to eat twice as much, but twice as well,” she said during the Medical Association of Jamaica 2018 symposium at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston on the weekend.”
